What do I Need?
In addition to your flicking fingers, the following hardware is required to play carrom.
Carrom Board
- A square wooden board with an extremely smooth surface, a hard wood border frame on all sides and small netted pockets in each corner. The standard playing area, excluding the border frame, is approximately 29" x 29". A thick and hard frame offers a strong rebound that provides added pace and fun to the game.
Carrom Men
- A set of nineteen light discs - nine white, nine black and one red (referred to as the Queen). Although carrom men were traditionally manufactured from polished wood, now men manufactured from acrylic sheet are also available, the latter being less abrasive and longer lasting.
Striker
- An acrylic disc (larger and heavier than the men) used to "strike" the men.
Carrom Powder
- Special fine powder sprayed on the board's surface to reduce friction and facilitate smoother play.
